National Semiconductor Corporation recently introduced two temperature sensors, model LM88 and LM26. The LM88 is a dual remote diode temperature sensor chip that supports three digital comparator outputs. The LM88 chip contains a delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter that reduces the noise injected from the remote diode. This chip has the ability to reduce noise interference and emits only a small amount of noise when performing remote temperature sensing. The LM88 chip can be a dual-target integrated circuit sensing temperature, including a Pentium III processor or 2N3904 transistor in a continuous diode. In addition, the LM88 chip can also be used as a four-level fan controller for personal computers.
