一部分学生在校学习期间表现为经常性的学业不良,他们在学习过程中,进行听、说、读、写、计算与理解的某个方面或几个方面出现明显的困难,同时在行为方式和行为能力(如自控行为、社会性认知、人际关系与交往等)方面存在偏差,学校中这类学生并不少见。据国外估计,约20%的儿童在校学习期间发生学习困难。国内攀枝花市(1987年)和长沙市(1988年)调查小学生中的发生率分别为17.4%和13.2%。
