In the past few years, Newmont Gold Company has developed a new process for the treatment of refractory gold-bearing sulphides, the N2 flotation process. In April 1997, the first industrial concentrator using the N2 flotation process was successfully put into operation at the LoneTree mine in Nevada, USA. The flotation plant has a design capacity of 40 85t / d ore or 494t / d sulphide concentrate. A portion of the flotation concentrates are combined with the feedstock into the LoneTree High Pressure Oxidation Plant, thus limiting the increased capacity of existing high pressure oxidation plants. The remaining concentrate is sold to the TwinCreeks autoclave or Carlin roasting plant, where they are oxidized and recovered. This article discusses the N2 flotation process to expand pilot plant test and industrial beneficiation plant production results, as well as engineering design simulation results. Also proposed N2 flotation process of basic investment and production costs data.
