剧情简介：圣诞前的伦敦，刚刚丧妻的丹尼尔发现自己九岁的儿子塞缪尔最近心情低落。爱子心切的他担心儿子是由于思念母亲而致如此，于是找个机会跟儿子谈心。结果一番循循善诱下，儿子道出的真相竟然大出他所料……
Daniel: So, what's the problem, Samuel? Is it just Mum, or is it something else, hmm? Maybe... school? Are you being 1)bullied? Or is it something worse? ①Can you give me any clues at all?
Samuel: You really want to know?
Daniel: I really want to know.
Samuel: ②Even though you won't be able to do anything to help?

① Can you give me any clues at all” 你到底能不能给我点暗示呢？
at all常用于否定句、疑问句和条件从句中以加强句子的语气。在不同的句式中表示不同的意思。在文中用于疑问句，意思是“到底；究竟”。
e.g. Why bother getting up at all when you don't have a job to go to? 你究竟为什么要起床呢，你都没有什么活要干？
e.g. I haven't been at all well recently. 我最近真的觉得很糟糕。
② Even though you won't be able to do anything to help” 就算你帮不上忙也想知道？
even though: although 尽管
e.g. Even though he left school at 16, he still managed to become prime minister. 尽管他16岁就离开了学校，他依然成功地当上了首相。

even if: whether or not 即使

结合第②来看，even though和even if的意思比较相近，但是还是有所差别的，我们来看以下两个例句：
e.g. I will come even if it rains hard.即使下大雨，我也会来。（假设）
e.g. I will come even though it is raining hard.尽管下大雨，我也会来。（事实）
这样一比较，我们就不难发现为什么孩子用even though，而父亲用even if了，因为孩子认为那已经是事实了，而父亲则认为那是一种假设的情况。
④ Aren't you a bit young to be in love” 谈恋爱，你还有点儿小吧？
a bit是“稍微(slightly)”的意思，例如：The dress is a bit too big for me. 对话中父亲使用a bit是为了把话说得客气些，让孩子觉得受到尊重，所以就不用“too young to be in love”。
⑤ I'l a little relieved. 我想我可以松口气了。
relieve就是“减轻负担等”的意思，类似的表达还有：That's a relief. / That's a weight off my shoulders.
e.g. After a week like this, I'l relieved it's Friday. 经过这样的一周，我终于可以在周五得到解放了。
e.g. I'l relieved to hear that. 听你这么说我就放心了。
