中国山水画与西方风景画都是对自然景象的描绘,但是不同的文化情境决定了描绘者对景物的观察方式,以及由观察方式不同得出的不同的表现要素和构成方式。作为“心画”的山水画,其哲学根源是老庄和佛禅。老庄的“道”使意境的“超以象外”得以发生,佛禅则使生发后的意境变得空明而有韵致。当代山水画传统的逝去,以及随着这一传统一同逝去的古代中国人的宇宙观、自然观、生活方式、情感态度、价值观念和审美经验,却是当代我们无法忽视、忽略的珍贵的文化遗产。
