What should a military robot look like? Faced with such a problem, what was the first image in your head to emerge? It was an awkward but considerate R2-D2 in Star Wars, or an extraordinary skill in a mechanical warfighter Machine Police? In fact, robots made by humans today are far from our imagination and the images in the movies. In 2005, the U.S. military began to use an armed robot named “Sword” on the Iraqi battlefield. It is equipped with machine guns, assault rifles and rocket launchers, and can continuously launch hundreds of rounds of firearms and rocket-propelled missiles at the enemy. A group of robots face to face with the enemy combat. But can you associate it with the dazzling concept of “machine future warrior” when you see a photo of “Sword”? Why is the difference between the robots and the reality we imagine so large? The robot is actually used in the military. What technical difficulties? On robotics and military applications related issues, our correspondents interviewed Professor Wang Tian Miao, Pei Bao Qing and Dr. Liang Jianhong ITM Lab of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, who respectively expressed their own views.
