The literary value of the English version of Wu Xun’s biography lies firstly in its rare English writings in Xu Di Shan and secondly in its intertextual response to the existing biographical texts. The author imitates the writing style of saints’ physical experience and strengthens the literary characterization of characters. At the same time, with the creative and original songs and ballads translation, the author sublimates the beggar’s singer into a troubadour in English literature. This biography intentionally borrows the Christian perspective of theology, highlighting the elements of the plot of martial law that departed from the traditional consciousness and thereby piecing together the images of the saints. From this point of view, the biographies are both non-literary writings that respond to the biblical tradition in imitation of forms and themes and respond to the historical texts in Chinese in the novel style and English translation of poetry. In inter-lingual practice, Xu Di-shan can both penetrate the religious view of life comprehension in biographical narratives and put it into solid text representation.
