氟碳铈矿是含稀土氧化物为70%左右的氟碳酸盐矿物。所含稀土元素以轻稀土为主,其稀土配分为CeO_250%,La_2O_334%,Nd_2O_314%和Pr_6O_(11)5%。并且它也是不含Th等放射性元素、工业储量最大的重要稀土矿物。目前,氟碳铈矿采用焙烧法,直接氯化法和硫酸分解法处理,但这些方法分别有如下缺点,如需在800℃的高温下进行处理,生成物中含F和产生SOx、HF等
