Abstract Objective To measure the content of gadolinium in rat brain at 1 ~ 20 weeks after injection of contrast agent and determine whether there is histopathological sequelae. Materials and Methods This study was approved by the Institutional Animal Stewardship Council of GE Global Research. After 1 week of injection of contrast agent and up to 20 repeated doses of gadodiamide (cumulative dose of 12 mmol / kg) for 20 weeks, the absolute amounts of gadolinium in blood and brain of rats were quantitatively determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry . The treatment group (6 rats in each group) was divided into low-dose and high-dose gadodiamide groups, while the control group received saline with the same osmotic pressure.
