Walzer’s novel “The Brother and Sister Donna” highlights the anxiety and thinking of individuals in the modern society about their own problems. This article focuses on the protagonist Simon to examine the problem of looking for personal identities in modern society. Modern society has basically formed a pattern of identity identification established by professional identity, however, occupational identity contains the individual requirements and restrictions imposed by modern social mechanisms. This pattern carries the irreconcilable contradiction between individual and society. Simon escaped the awareness of time, walked to the space with a walk, and his continuous search for work and abandonment of the process reflected the individual’s rebellion and questioning as well as looking for another possibility of identity.
