1991年,我馆配备了CD—ROM光盘器,对全球热带海洋大气(TOGA)资料进行开发利用。今年又将进一步配备可擦除光盘系统(简称E—RW),用于气象观测记录光盘存贮、检索技术的研究。从发展趋势看,光盘将是一种比较理想的气象记录存贮载体,因为: 1.光盘记录密度高、容量大、体积小。目前已商品化的光盘,记录的线密度已达1000位/毫米,道密度高达625道/毫米。一片13毫米(5.25英寸)光盘,存贮容量在600MB以上,有的可擦除光盘容量已超过1GB。它相当于15~20盘1600BPI磁带的信息存贮量,而它的体积只有一盘磁带的十几分之一。气象观测记录信息量很大,我馆存档的记录磁带信息量已达128GB,而且每年将递增20GB左右,如果采用光盘存贮,可大大节约磁带及档案库的空间。
In 1991, our museum was equipped with a CD-ROM drive to develop and utilize the global TOGA data. This year, it will be further equipped with an Erasable Disk System (E-RW) for the study of meteorological observation and recordable optical disk storage and retrieval technologies. From the development trend, the CD-ROM will be a more ideal meteorological record storage carrier, because: 1. Compact disc recording density, large capacity, small size. Currently commercialized CD-ROM, recording line density has reached 1000 bits / mm, the road density up to 625 / mm. A 13 mm (5.25 inch) disc has a storage capacity of over 600 MB and some erasable discs have a capacity of more than 1 GB. It is equivalent to 15 ~ 20 1600BPI tape information storage capacity, and its volume is only a dozen of a tape. The meteorological observation records a great deal of information. The volume of recorded tapes archived by our museum has reached 128GB, and will increase by about 20GB every year. If using optical disk storage, the space for tapes and archives will be greatly saved.
