玻璃作为常见的建筑材料,是人们十分熟悉的.典型的应用是将玻璃用作门窗材料,既起到分隔建筑物内外空间的作用,又具有挡风、防雨、采光、透视等功能.而将玻璃作为装饰材料,则远未被人们所普遍认识.但稍加留心观察则不难发现,无论是民居家庭,还是各类公共建筑,玻璃已大量地被用作室内外装饰材料,大到一幢幢拔地而起、风格各异的摩天大楼的外墙装饰、大厅布置,小到寻常百姓家中的室内吊顶、局部隔断,都已广泛地采用了中空玻璃、镜面玻璃、彩印玻璃、刻花玻璃等装饰玻璃.而且由于室内环境与人们的关系更加密切,加上历史、民族、人文、社会和经济发展等方面的差异,使装饰玻璃在室内装饰中的应用更多、变化更大.装饰玻璃在室内设计中的应用也就愈加引起人们的注意.
