Vietnam is full of extremes and nowhere is this more evident than in the south. Officially named Ho Chi Minh City, this sprawling metropolis still goes by the name of its central district,Saigon. Along the riverbanks people ply their trades, as they've done for centuries. But today they work in the shadow of skyscrapers. Saigon is Vietnam's "city of dreams" and every month thousands flock here in hope of a better life. With a population of seven million it's the largest and fastest growing city in the country. Almost half its residents get by on trusty mopeds.Every day thousands are ferried across the river to work, ever ready to feed a flourishing economy.
