前列腺癌可以采用手术治疗,睾丸切除加女性激素治疗以及放射治疗。根治性手术治疗的五年治愈率为75%,十年治愈率为55%,十五年治愈率为33%。疗效较好。但由于前列腺癌患者往往年龄较大,合并心血管病等等,或病变较广泛,所以能作根治手术的患者仅为前列腺癌患者的5～12.8%。睾丸切除加女性激素治疗的五年生存率为56.5%,十年生存率为20.4%。放射治疗,特别是体外照射,在60年代以前,由于疗效差,很少采用。
