据央视近期的调查数据表明,湖南电视台以《新青年》为代表的一批谈话类节目在同类节目的竞争中居第二位,仅次于央视。清华大学大众传播系博导尹鸿教授认为《新青年》是目前国内五大最有特点的谈话栏目之一,并且“它代表了某种谈话节目的总体思路”。也有专家认为“《新青年》作为一个很有发展潜力的强势品牌节目,它与《快乐大本营》、《玫瑰之约》等品牌节目形成互补,已成为湖南卫视品牌战略中新的支撑和亮点。”《人民日报·大地周刊》著文评论“《新青年》这档原创性栏目的出现,为电视业增添了新的探索路径。”《新青年》节目开播不到两年,就两度获得中国电视奖三等奖和湖南电视奖栏目一等奖,还获得了第五届全国电视节目“金童奖”。同时《新青年》栏目还被评为2000年度湖南电视台优秀栏目和2000年度湖南省广播电视局全局最佳栏目。去年湖南电视台季度节目评优中,每次《新青年》的节目都获得了最佳社教谈话节目,命中率达100%,这在全台各栏目中极为少见。
