  Ⅳ.阅读理解(共20小题,每小题2分,满分40分)
  (A)
Without proper planning, tourism can cause problems. For example, too many tourists can crowd public places that are also enjoyed by the inhabitants of a country. If tourists create too much traffic, the inhabitants become annoyed and unhappy. They begin to dislike tourists and to treat them impolitely. They forget how much tourism can help the country’s economy. It is important to think about the people of a destination country and how tourism affects them. Tourism should help a country keep the customs and beauty that attract tourists. Tourism should also advance the wealth and happiness of local inhabitants.
Too much tourism can be a problem. If tourism grows too quickly, people must leave other jobs to work in the tourism industry. This means that other parts of the country’s economy can suffer.
On the other hand, if there is not enough tourism, people can lose jobs. Businesses can also lose money. It costs a great deal of money to build large hotels, airports, air terminals, first-class roads, and other support facilities(配套设施) needed by tourist attractions. For example, a major international-class tourism hotel can cost as much as 50 thousand dollars per room to build. If this room is not used most of the time, the owners of the hotel lose money.
Building a hotel is just a beginning. There must be many support facilities as well, including roads to get to the hotel, electricity, sewers to handle waste, and water. All of these support facilities cost money. If they are not used because there are not enough tourists, jobs and money are lost.
  1. Which of the following do you think has been discussed in the part before this selection? ____.
  A. It is extremely important to develop tourism
  B. Building roads and hotels is essential
  C. Support facilities are highly necessary
  D. Planning is of great importance to tourism
  2. The underlined word”inhabitants”(in Paragraph 1) probably means ____.
  A. touristsB. passengersC. populationD. citizens
  3. Too much tourism can cause all these problems EXCEPT ____.
  A. a bad effect on other industries
  B. a change of tourists’customs
  C. over-crowdedness of places of interest
  D. pressure on traffic
  4. It can be inferred from the text that ____.
  A. the author doesn’t like tourism developing so fast
  B. local people will benefit from tourist attraction
  C. other parts of a country’s economy won’t benefit from tourism much
  D. we can’t build too many support facilities
  5. The author thinks it is good for local people to know that tourism will ____.
  A. waste a lot of moneyB. weaken their economy
  C. help establish their customsD. help improve their life
  (B)
It’s 2035. You have a job, a family and you’re about 40 years old. Welcome to our future life.
Getting ready for work, you pause in front of the mirror.”Turn red,”you say. Your shirt changes from sky blue to deep red. Tiny preprogrammed electronics (智能电子元件) are rearranged in your shirt to change its color. Looking into the mirror, you find it hard to believe you’re 40. You look much younger. With amazing advances in medicine, people in your generation may live to be 150 years old. You’re not even middle aged!
As you go into the kitchen and prepare to pour your breakfast cereal into a bowl, you hear,”To lose weight, you shouldn’t eat that,”from your shoes. They read the tiny electronic code on the cereal box to find out the nutrition details. You decide to listen to your shoes.”Kitchen, what can I have for breakfast?”A list of possible foods appears on the counter as the kitchen checks its food supplies.
“Ready for your trip to space,”you ask your son and daughter. In 2005 only specially-trained astronauts went into space—and very few of them. Today anyone can go to space for daytrips or longer vacations. Your best friend even works in space. Handing your children three strawberries each, you add,”The doctor said you need these for space travel.”Thanks to medical advances, vaccination shots(防疫针) are a thing of the past. Ordinary foods contain specific vaccines. With the berries in their mouths, the kids head for the front door.
It’s time for you to go to work. Your car checks your fingerprints and unlocks the doors.”My office, autopilot,”you command. Your car drives itself down the road and move smoothly into traffic on the highway. You sit back and unroll your e-newspaper. The latest news downloads and fills the viewer. Looking through the pages, you watch the news as video film rather than read it.
  6. What changes the color of your shirt? ____.
  A. The mirrorB. The shirt itself
  C. The counterD. The medicine
  7. How do the shoes know that you shouldn’t eat the breakfast cereal? ____.
  A. By pouring the breakfast into a bowl

  C. By testing the food supplies in the kitchen
  D. By checking the nutrition details of the food
  8. The strawberries the children eat serve as ____.
  A. breakfastB. lunchC. vaccinesD. nutrition
  9. How is the text organized? ____.
  A. In order of timeB. In order of frequency
  C. In order of preferenceD. In order of importance

When asked to point out one or two things that are most important to themselves, many put friends ahead of homes, jobs, clothes and cars.
A true friendship carries a long history of experience that determines who we are and keeps us connected. It is a treasure we should protect. Unfortunately, the better friends you are, the more probably you’ll have disagreements. And the result can be what you don’t want—an end to the relationship.
The good news is that most troubled friendships can be mended. First, don’t let your pride get in your way. Most of us can forgive each other when differences are brought out in open. Second, apologize when you’re wrong—even if you’ve been wronged. Over the course of a friendship, even the best people make mistakes. Sometimes, it may be best if the wronged person takes the lead and apologizes. When you apologize, give your friend a chance to admit that he has been wrong. Third, see things from your friend’s point of view(观点). And finally, accept that friendships change as our needs and lifestyle(生活方式) change. Making friends can sometimes seem easy. The hard part is keeping the connections strong during the natural ups and downs that have an effect on all relationships. My suggestion: Consider friendship an honor and a gift, and worth the effort to treasure and nurture(培养).
  17. What would be the best title for the text? ____.
  A. Easy Ways to Make Friends
  B. Ups and Downs in Friendship
  C. How to Mend a Troubled Friendship
  D. How to Take the Lead in Making Friends
  18. The”wronged person”underlined in the text refers to a person ____.
  A. who has been mistaken for another
  B. who has been blamed unfairly
  C. who has treated friends badly
  D. who has admitted his mistakes
  19. According to the text a friendship can last long only if ____.
  A. we have much in common
  B. we know our friends’mistakes
  C. we treat our disagreements wisely
  D. we have known one another for long
  20. What should we do if we follow the author’s second suggestion? ____.
  A. Stick to our own prints of view
  B. Avoid making mistakes
  C. Make an apology first
  D. Change our lifestyles
