英国铁道部研究和发展部最近研究出一种交流电动机装置,用于第三轨供电的电动车组。这种新装置应用了转子在外面的鼠笼式电动机。转子被安置在轴管的里侧,因此转子包围了定子,并且直接驱动轮对。藉助于穿过一个主轴箱轴承的转矩管来制止定子的转动。定子的冷却空气从转矩管进入,通过轴管上的孔排出。电源电缆则穿过另一个主轴箱轴承而进入内部。
The British Ministry of Railways Research and Development recently developed an AC motor unit for the third rail-powered EMUs. The new device uses a squirrel-cage motor with a rotor on the outside. The rotor is placed on the inside of the shaft tube so the rotor surrounds the stator and directly drives the wheelset. The rotation of the stator is stopped by means of a torque tube passing through a spindle bearing. The cooling air from the stator enters the torque tube and is discharged through the hole in the shaft tube. The power cable goes through the other headstock bearing and into the interior.
