今年年初,寒意尚未尽消,我和民进的几位省政协委员到海安、东台视察,其中感受最深的是在东台。东台在苏北的沿海地带,是一座颇负盛名的古城。近代以来,先后出过张謇、戈公振等杰出人物。张氏后来入籍南通,其原出东台已渐为人淡忘,而戈氏的故居业经修复,已成为东台的胜迹,每天吸引着海内外不少关心中国早期新闻事业发展历史的人们前来参观游览。近些年来,东台更为世人瞩目的却是它的农林牧副业生产,其中最有特色的是多种经营。初到东台,市长和多管局局长便到我们下榻的宾馆详细介绍了当地多种经营的概况。在市政协和多管局领导的陪同下,我们顶风冒雪先后视察了农民兴办的大规模现代化养鸡厂、乳猪加工厂、养鳖厂、罗氏沼虾厂、银狐养殖厂和集农工贸于一体的蚕桑丝织集团公司,看到一个个昔日落后的穷乡僻壤变成了日进斗金的风水宝地, Earlier this year, the chill has not yet disappeared.
