The turmoil in derivatives markets triggered by the recent subprime mortgage crisis in the United States has not only hit the global stock market but also panicked in the financial markets as a whole. Commercial lenders, large and small, went bankrupt. Large-scale banking businesses that provide liquidity and asset securitization are affected. Various types of funds investing in subordinated debt have suffered heavy losses. Central banks in all countries have to inject huge sums of money into the banking system to ease the crisis. The subprime mortgage crisis in the United States undoubtedly sent a warning to the financial derivatives market that the market for derivatives should be developed and improved as soon as possible. Effectively controlling and resolving the risks in the financial markets is of great realistic significance for improving the credit risk management and international competitiveness of our banking industry and for maintaining the healthy economic development.
