机械工业部赴美拖拉机修理考察组了解到:在美国,与拖拉机、汽车、动力机械维修体系相对应,有各种生产性的协会。与再生厂相对应的有产品发动机再生协会(PERA)、自动变速器修理协会(ATRA)等等。与零修店相对应的有汽车发动机修理者协会(AERA)、全国维修经理协会(NSMA)等。这些协会都是民办组织,参加者缴纳会费。如产品发动机再生协会总部设在洛杉矶,其宗旨是通过协会活动向会员提供为获得性能、质量和原产品相同甚至超过原产品的再生品所需的方法、工艺等信息,改善经营管理,保证利润,提高生产率。
