CIMS 总体设计所使用的模型体系和建模方法已不能很好满足分析和设计的需求。面向用户的CIMS总体设计建模方法力图从一个新的视角来解决现有的问题。该建模方法在分析综合现有模型体系、建模方法和面向对象思想的基础上,把模型的可理解性、描述的全面性和可形式化结合起来,使其不但能以尽可能少的简明概念来全面描述系统中的信息流和物质流、状态因素和人的行为因素,而且考虑了模型概念的一致性,从而可以使模型方便地根据需要转换成各种视图和系统性能分析的模型,有利于提高基于这类模型的系统设计过程的效率、质量和可行性
