电视报警器和其他报警器相比,有能够获得作案现场和事故发生场所直观图象的优点。红外电视报警器的象质虽然不如可见光系统,但是它夜间不需要照明,因此,在文物保护、仓库管理、消防、森林保护以及其他安全警卫方面有广泛用途。本报警器除了和热释电摄象管(PEV)摄象机联结外,还可以和可见光摄象机联结。报警器的基本工作原理是:由摄象机传来的全电视信号,经过放大器后分成两路,一路经过同步分离电路,分离出场同步信号,另一路经过幅度鉴别器,将模拟信号转换为脉冲信号。此信号经过计数器以后,和场同步信号同时输入电脑处理系统。电脑处理系统由CPU、内存储器、接口电路等组成。同步信号是作为中断请求信号,当场同步信号到来时,CPU响应中断,对输入的脉冲信号进行处理。
