本文试图论述澳大利亚当代小说中殖民主义的意义,分别讨论了殖民主义与民族身份的确认、多元文化主义的兴起、种族主义暴力,以及后现代主义的影响等,指出殖民主义不仅可以作为一面历史的镜子,折射出澳大利亚社会过去的经历;也可以成为一座丰富的历史矿藏,从中提取各种营养和素材,为澳大利亚多元文化和文学的发展作出自己的贡献。
This article attempts to discuss the significance of colonialism in contemporary Australian novels, discussing the recognition of colonialism and national identity, the rise of multiculturalism, racist violence and the influence of postmodernism respectively. It points out that colonialism can not only be used as a historical Mirror, reflecting the past experience of Australian society; can also be a rich historical mineral deposits, from which to extract a variety of nutrients and materials for the Australian multicultural and literary development to make its own contribution.
