1949年1月18日,《人民日报》发布新华社消息《东北战地摄影记者郭春瑞同志阵亡》:“新华社沈阳十五日电东北画报社战地摄影记者郭春瑞,去年十月参加锦州巷战英勇拍摄解放军抓捕俘虏场面时,不幸被敌刺刀刺中右腹,几经医治无效,光荣殉职。郭同志系共产党员,冀东昌黎县人,牺牲时年仅22岁。”
