“” (now simplified as “building”), the ancient Chinese basic meaning of “pounding”, have since been extended to “build” (build) “stuffed” “hit” “tie” “stab” “cut” Fight “and other senses. Most of these extended terms are no longer seen in Putonghua today but have been used in modern Chinese dialects for a long time, while others are still commonly used in modern Chinese dialects. Only because of the evolvement of ancient and modern pronunciation of ”“, people have not ascertained the original form of this word, but have to look for ”Ben Zi“ or folk idioms, so that the origin of a commonly used word becomes blurred. Based on the arguments of ancient Chinese literature and modern dialects of modern Chinese, the essay intends to explore the semantic origins of ”" from the combination of speech and meaning.
