Objective: To investigate the relationship between oncogene protein expression and prognosis in transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of p21, p185 and p53 in 150 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma. Results: The positive rates of p21, p185 and p53 in bladder transitional cell carcinoma were 59.3%, 55.3% and 29% respectively. 73 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma there are two or more proteins co-expression. The positive rates of p21 and p185 were negatively correlated with the grade of BTCC (P <0.05). The positive rate of p53 protein was positively correlated with the grade of bladder transitional cell carcinoma (P <0.01). The positive rate of p21 protein expression was negatively correlated with prognosis, and p53 was positively correlated with prognosis. Conclusion: The detection of p21 and p53 protein may be helpful in judging the prognosis of bladder cancer.
