锦西县台集屯乡英房子村农业技术员周世臣,1983年承包的1.45亩棉田,平均亩产皮棉345.89斤,1亩地收入1,097元,他的栽培经验主要有以下几点:一、选用增产潜力大的新品系他使用的品种是“6496”。这个新品系在结铃习性、铃重、绒长、衣分率、品质上均优于黑山棉。特别是棉铃脱落率(为43％)比黑山棉低14％,靠主干内部的大棉铃脱落率比黑山棉低30％左右。棉铃多五室,开絮畅,在高水肥条件下,铃重可达5克以上,根系强壮、抗旱、早衰轻。他不仅选用良种,而且注意良种的提纯复壮工作,这块高产棉田所用的种子,是1982年入选的单株,纯度高、长势齐、种性好。仅这一项措施,就比一般“6496”种子增产15％左右。
