这是一种结构简单,而对永久性气体(如 N_2、O_2、Ar、H_2、CO、CO_2等)具有极高灵敏度的一种气谱仪上应用的探测器,它除了 Ne 以外,几乎对所有永久性气体全能测定。它的最小探测量可达 p.p.b 数量级(1p.p.b 是1千兆分子之一,即(1)/(1000×10~6)=(1/1~9)),线性范围也比较宽,可达10~4。它从灵敏度来讲,是目前所有的探测器最高的一种,它比最好的氢火焰电离探测器的灵敏度还可高出50倍。探测器的结构如图一所示:
