Different species of animals, including rodents, are often used to improve the study of tumor radiotherapy. However, in clinical practice, the applicability of some animal models has not yet been clearly demonstrated. The correctness of extrapolating from animals to humans has yet to be tested. Experiments on r.b.e. in vivo determined as skin damage per serving of high energy neutron dose function showed that the responses of different species such as humans, mice, pigs, and rats were equal. Using another approach, which is to look at the life span of a fibroblast population culture, the authors have demonstrated that the response of cells to ionizing radiation depends on the cell species. On mouse fibroblasts, their permanent cell lines were built
