July 29, 1997 (Tuesday) is the 40th anniversary of the formal establishment of the IAEA. This issue of the 40th Anniversary of the IAEA Bulletin highlights highlights of the rich and challenging life of institutions, mainly since the mid-1980s. The many events that took place, including the Chernobyl accident and the Iraqi incident, which are now commonly familiar with people, have greatly examined the collective capabilities of governments around the world and their use of global research institutions and resources. These events have also had a profound impact on the social, economic, environmental and political developments of the past decade.
