Elunchun After 1683(the 22nd year of Qing Emperor Kangxi’s reign),this ethnic group was referred to in written documents as Eluochun and Elunchun,using different Chinese characters to transliterate the name.In 1690,the version Elunchun was determined as the standard.The name means“people who tame reindeer.”The Elunchun people originated in the upper reaches of the Heilongjiang River,living by raising reindeer,fishing,hunting,and gathering natural crops.They moved southward later on.
