Objective To observe and study the micronuclei and chromosome aberrations of peripheral blood lymphocytes in radiation workers and to understand the effects of long-term low-dose ionizing radiation on the health of radiation workers. Methods Occupational health examination was performed on 647 radiological workers in Gansu Province. The changes of micronuclei and chromosome aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes were analyzed. Results The positive rate of micronuclei in lymphocytes was 11.13% in radiological workers (χ2 = 10.858, P <0.05). The positive rate of chromosome aberration was 6.34%, which was significantly lower than that in control group (Χ2 = 8.299, P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the detection rate of micronuclei and chromosome aberration of lymphocytes among radiographers of different types, ages and sex (χ2 = 4.816, P> 0.05) . Conclusion Long-term low-dose ionizing radiation has a certain impact on the genetic material of radiation workers, and radiation protection should be strengthened.
