This work is to study the separation of trace amounts of plutonium in uranium by extraction chromatography using a combination of TBP chromatography column and 7402 quaternary ammonium chromatography column. Experiments examined the various factors that affect the separation effect, to determine the separation process. For 0.1 g uranium and 6 x 10-9 g plutonium samples, the decontamination factor for uranium is 107 in this separation process and the plutonium yield is greater than 98%. This result satisfies the accurate measurement of trace amounts of plutonium in uranium on MC-ICP-MS
