Marc Chagall, the representative of “surrealist”, was quite personal among many outstanding painters of the 20th century, in large part because of Chagall’s foothold between the two cultures. However, this does not prevent people from entering into the aesthetic world of the artist according to the shapes, compositions and colors of Chagall’s works, and provides some meaningful reference for other modern artists in enriching their own drawing languages. This article analyzes the artistic language of Chagall’s paintings from three aspects: symbolic setting which is very symbolic, unrestrained space composition, and intense subjective use of color.
