The Virginia Military Academy in the United States has seen many high-level middle-distance runners emerge in recent years. Much of the success depends on coach Williams and assistant coach Vogt, who have devised effective training methods. This training method has been proven by the achievements of many famous coaches and athletes and is very feasible. This training method is mainly reflected in the high-speed gap training followed by the recovery period. Although there is no particularly new concept, the Virginia Military Academy does go a long way in innovation in long-distance training. The Virginia Military Academy’s annual training program can be divided into three phases: Phase 1: Basic Training The basic training phase generally begins in June until
