I originally envisioned that Japan’s printing industry must also be a highly efficient, highly automated process that employs the most advanced production technologies and quality management techniques. However, after field visits, it was found that their approach was very different from what I thought.1 Although in the United States and Western Europe, the current major trend is the addition of 5-color, 6-color or even-colored sheetfed presses and often with an in-line laminating and expanding delivery system, the color printing market in Japan is still used. Powder four-color printing presses dominate. In general, Japanese printers use inks with higher light components and lower dye compositions. Special colors are mainly composed of four colors.
