Objective To investigate the relationship between the superiority of hypertension and vertebral artery and the curvature of basilar artery. Methods 306 patients with basilar artery bends were divided into groups A, B, C and D 4, group A were patients with neither hypertension nor vertebral artery predominance, group B with hypertension only but without superior vertebral artery C Group only for the superior vertebral artery without hypertension in patients; D group for the hypertension and vertebral artery advantages exist in patients. Analysis of the relationship between hypertension and vertebral artery superiority and basilar artery curvature. Results There were 5 cases (1.63%) in group A, 70 cases (22.88%) in group B, 101 cases (33.01%) in group C and 130 cases (42.48%) in group D, P <0.01. Conclusions The superiority of hypertension and vertebral artery have significant influence on whether the basilar artery bends or not. The superior vertebral artery patients are more prone to have basilar artery bends than the hypertensive patients who are prone to have basilar artery curvature, hypertension and vertebral artery predominance. Control of blood pressure is one of the main measures to prevent and cure basilar artery.
