Chlorophyll pigments include chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carotene and lutein and other major components. The use of different materials such as diatomaceous earth G, silica gel, cellulose or mixtures thereof as carriers for the separation of chlorophyll by thin-layer chromatography has been reported.
