1979年,吴品禾初涉摄影,便被家乡的秀山丽水、天光云霓所感动。20多年来,他深深沉醉其间,为其传神写照。在他的作品中,山、石、草、树都浸润着情感,舞动着灵魂。无论是力挽狂澜的《护排》,还是顶天立地的《基石》,都凝结着大山那份博大的气魄。至今、他已有近千幅作品入选或发表于国内外影展、影赛和各类报刊,其中获奖达100多幅。与此同时,作为一名市人大代表,吴品禾把自己的才智毫无保留地奉献给了山民,为丽水地区群众摄影的繁荣倾注了大量的心血。他不断举办各个层次的摄影培训班,经常下基层授课。天长日久,上至领导干部,下至山里农民纷纷爱上摄影,这使得丽水获得了“中国摄影之乡”的称号。作为中国摄影家协会理事、浙江省摄影家协会副主席、丽水市文联主席
