Objective To explore the relationship between medical students’ childhood trauma, executive function and negative emotions and the mediating role of executive function. Methods A total of 492 medical students were surveyed by using the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Depression and Anxiety-Stress Scale of Depression and Anxiety-Stress Scale. Results Correlation analysis showed that there was no significant correlation between sexual abuse and physical abuse and neglect of emotion, and there was a positive correlation between other variables (P <0.05). Structural equation modeling results show that childhood trauma has a direct effect on negative emotions early in adulthood and can indirectly affect negative emotions through executive function. Conclusion Childhood trauma has a significant impact on executive function and negative emotions of medical students, and executive function plays a part of mediating role between childhood trauma and negative emotions.
