Based on the analysis of the interannual variations of the sea surface height field and the upper oceanic heat content, the intrinsic relationship between the tropical East Indian Ocean and the upper tropical Pacific Ocean during the 1997 ~ 1998El Nino period was revealed. In the early period of the El Niño event from 1997 to 1998, the sea surface anomaly signal First appeared in the tropical western Pacific, followed by negative anomalies in the tropical eastern Indian Ocean. The negative anomaly signal of the upper ocean heat also appeared in the tropical western Pacific in the early stage of El Nino. Based on the inter-annual scale adjustment of the tropical East Indian Ocean and the tropical western Pacific Ocean, we used the anomalous upper troposphere of the tropical East Indian Ocean Growth, and estimated the flux throughout Indonesia, and the results obtained are of the same order of magnitude as the observations. This indirect estimation shows that the anomalies of the tropical East Indian Ocean during 1997-1998 El Nino can be partially transited through the tropical western Pacific anomalies caused.
