十九年前，一部反映国人在海外打拼的电视剧——《北京人在纽约》横空出世，轰动了整个中国。作为国内首部全程在美国拍摄的电视剧，国人首次得以近距离透过镜头，对国外的生活一探究竟；十九年间，不知有多少国人怀揣着淘金梦在自由女神像孤傲的注视下涌入纽约；十九年后，从物质文明上来讲，北京已然并无逊色于纽约之处：我们有悠久的历史、低于纽约的物价、四通八达的交通、各式各样的美味佳肴，多说一句，我们还有美丽的姑娘和憨厚的小伙儿，所以，当你在北京街头看到一个又一个外邦人，请不要惊讶，我们的国家如今也已是不少外邦人心中的向往。
在本期主题中，四位来自纽约的作者将从几个不同的角度向我们描述他们心目中的北京、他们眼中的中国：透过在北京北漂的清洁工，他们见识到，在中国每个人都能做得起一个不那么平凡的梦；在北京的景山之巅，健步如飞的老人及其打趣式的推销，更是让他们见识到我们别样的民生；透过威廉·林赛这个保护长城的英国人，亲身游历了“野长城”的纽约小姐已为冷峻而又热情的长城所深深吸引；还有一个精打细算的纽约人，慢悠悠地跟你算起了北京的好，租房子、搭地铁、坐公交、买辣椒……其实，不管是北京人在纽约，还是纽约客在北京，表达的都是同一种内涵：我们要带着一颗鲜活的心脏去体会，把那些城市的棱角、蜿蜒的街道和人民的友好都刻入记忆，内化为情感，更好地生活。
总之，纽约客们说了：“北京就是好！”
