Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of nm23-H1 and p21 and prognosis in rectal cancer with no lymph node metastasis. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to observe the expression of nm23-H1 and p21 in 84 cases of rectal adenocarcinoma without lymph node metastasis. Results Of the 32 patients with a survival period of less than 5 years, 26 cases (81.3%) were negative for nm23-H1 expression, 28 (87.5%) were positive for p21 expression, and 52 cases had a survival period of >5 years. In patients, nm23-H1 negative expression in 11 cases (21.2%), p21 positive expression in 20 cases (38.5%), nm23-H1 and p21 in the two groups showed a significant difference (P <0. 05). Conclusion The low expression of nm23-H1 and the positive expression of p2I in rectal cancer without lymph node metastasis are closely related to the 5-year survival rate, which has a guiding role in the choice of postoperative comprehensive treatment options.
