高职院校一直以来担负着为社会输送技能型人才的重任。近年来,随着经济的迅猛发展,社会对高职院校毕业生也提出了更高层次的要求。在这其中,英语水平也成为衡量毕业生质量的重要标准。英语课程作为高职院校的必修课之一,一直受到学校和学生的高度重视。如何让学生更好地接受英语知识,提高他们的英语水平以满足社会对毕业生的要求,是广大英语教师和学者一直关注和思考的问题。通过对社会需求和学生需求的分析,本文作者认为EGP+ESP的英语课程设计理论将对高职院校英语教学质量的提高有一定的帮助,能在一定程度上满足社会和学生对英语语言的需求。
Higher vocational colleges have always assumed the responsibility of transporting skilled personnel to the society. In recent years, with the rapid economic development, social higher vocational college graduates also put forward higher level requirements. Among these, English proficiency also serves as an important measure of the quality of graduates. As one of the compulsory courses in higher vocational colleges, English courses have always been highly valued by schools and students. How to enable students to better understand English knowledge and improve their English proficiency to meet the community’s requirements for graduates is a problem that the majority of English teachers and scholars have been paying attention to and thinking about. Through the analysis of social needs and student needs, the author of this paper believes that EGP + ESP’s English curriculum design theory will help to improve the quality of English teaching in higher vocational colleges, and to a certain extent, meet the social and students’ demand.
