Objective To observe the changes of extracellular matrix (EC) dopamine (DA), norepinephrine (NE), serotonin (5-HT) and their metabolites homovanillic acid (HVA ) And 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA). Methods The intracerebral microdialysis technique was used to measure the changes of ECFDA, NE and 5-HT after 30min ischemia and 120min reperfusion in forebrain by high pressure liquid chromatography. Results ECFDA and NE rapidly increased to 282 and 914 times of pre-ischemic preconditioning at 10 min after cerebral ischemia, respectively. They continued throughout the ischemic period and rapidly dropped to their pre-ischemic levels after reperfusion. The number of HVA and 5-HIAA in cerebral ischemic phase decreased rapidly, reaching 45% and 52% before ischemia at 30min and increased after reperfusion, reaching 150% before ischemia at 60min and 90min after reperfusion %. Conclusion The monoaminergic metabolic disorder is involved in ischemic neuronal damage
