Tumor-bearing WAG rats were treated with any of the following nitrosourea chlorides: cysteamine nitrosoureas, hydroxyethylchloroethyl urea, and chlorozotocin (CZT) treatment all resulted in increased spontaneous lung metastases. On the other hand, it has hitherto been known that NK cells participate in the control of metastasis of cancer cells Therefore, this study aimed to investigate whether the metastatic process of lung cancer cells is related to the decrease of local activity of NK cells. To this end, the authors examined the in vitro cytotoxic effects of isolated lymphocytes from pulmonary capillaries on two different target cells. At the same time, the survival rate of cancer cells in CZT pretreated pure strain rats was also evaluated. The animals used in the experiment were female WAG rats.
