This article aims to examine and analyze violence against women in Iraq. Until recently, the country has been treating gender-based violence as a matter of privacy or family affairs. However, people’s thinking on this phenomenon has started to change in recent years. It is now considered a public health issue and a violation of human rights. As a first step towards understanding this issue, I first try to do an empirical analysis of Iraqi women and focus on gender-based violence. The results show that violence against women mainly comes from husbands and brothers. In an attempt to explain such violence, a sample survey of 1,000 women and 100 adult men found that violence against women is a ubiquitous medical-social problem in Iraq and that immediate intervention is urgently needed to prevent or at least control such behavior. The purpose of our study is to find ways to end the prejudices of gender violence and change the role of society in society and turn a blind eye to this issue.
