李逊梅是清末民初东北重要的通俗小说家,其小说创作丰富,立意正大,文笔活泼。然李逊梅及其小说为学界鲜有提及,对其进行挖掘、整理、研究本身就有填补空白的意义。1927—1928年李逊梅在《满洲报》先后发表了《劫鸾恨史》《磨难姻缘》《桃花窟》《桃花梦》《毁人炉》《炉灰》等社会言情小说,李逊梅以东北社会文化为背景,用活泼连贯的笔法描述了旧社会藏污纳垢,道德沦亡的照影,表达了“一盲引众盲、相将入火坑”的担忧,自比金钟玉铎,表明了“欲用之教正社会、感化人心”的创作目的,更因小说《欲海》获得了“别开小说界之蹊径,聊作新青年之木铎”的极高评价。
