Overview The V160 diesel locomotive (Figure 1) was developed in collaboration with Krupp Ma-schinenfabriken Essen and the Deutsche Bahn (DB) Munich Railway. According to the detailed technical conditions proposed by the Federal Railroad in Germany, the V160 locomotive is designed as a multi-purpose locomotive for main and branch lines. In recent years, it has been used to replace the passenger tasks of 38, 23 and 03 steam locomotives and the light and medium cargo operation of 50 steam locomotives.
