一直处于缓慢发展状态的无线网络即将从数字蜂窝网络得到所需的动力。由于无线网络速度慢、价格高,并且为用户现有的应用提供的连接性能有限,所以,只有为数很少的机构依靠它们进行数据通信。但PCS(Personal Communications Services)可能会改变这一现状。与过去的蜂窝网络不同,PCS是以数字基础设施为基础,而不是以模拟基础设施为基础,所以它更加适合支持数据应用。然而,PCS供应商只是刚刚推出这样的网络,他们的最初侧重点是话音服务。另外,开发商必须要重点解决应用开发和高价格的最终用户设备等问题。
The wireless network, which has been in a state of slow development, is about to get the required power from the digital cellular network. Because wireless networks are slow, expensive, and have limited connectivity for users’ existing applications, only a few organizations rely on them for data communications. However, PCS (Personal Communications Services) may change this situation. Unlike past cellular networks, PCS is based on digital infrastructure rather than analog infrastructure, so it is more suitable for supporting data applications. However, PCS suppliers have only just launched such networks. Their initial focus was on voice services. In addition, developers must focus on issues such as application development and high-cost end-user equipment.
